Must-See Art Fairs and Festivals in 2023

Introducing some of the most prominent art fairs across the globe in 2023

We all wish we could be in multiple places at once, and the more you travel and learn, the more you want to see it all. If you’re an art aficionado, you know exactly what we are talking about. The good news is that there are virtual ways to explore all things art, from art history to the hottest news in the art world, to the ins and outs of the art community, which is just beginning to open up to the world by joining forces with another powerhouse: the NFT scene. In a way, the Internet is a one-stop shop in its own right. And yes, there are so many virtual exhibitions to attend.

But it’s even better if you can also get a taste of art in the real world every now and then. Each opportunity to see art in person can be a deeply immersive experience. Attending an art exhibition can be engaging, whether you are a lone wolf or have like-minded company. But art exhibitions, fairs and related events are not just about stepping out of the mundane. From the practical side of things, you get to learn more about emerging practices and trends in the art world, and, depending on your goals and ambitions, maybe also add a new item to your collection. As an added perk, you may get a chance to mingle and network, and perhaps even run into impactful artists.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the must-see international art art fairs and festivals in 2023. That gives you plenty of time to do your research and plan your next vacation or weekend getaways. The best thing about Art Basel, aside from the fact that it is a meeting place for artists, art collectors and the Who’s Who of the art scene and international art community, is that is has multiple host cities with main and parallel exhibitions, as well as events held in partner cities, which means you have a better chance to visit at least one closest to you. There is the original one, Basel, Switzerland, and those that followed: Miami Beach, Hong Kong and Paris. The one in Paris was launched in 2022. The number of partner cities is constantly growing. It is also likely that more host cities will be added to the list in the years to come.
